Filmaporto Grants

In 1906, Neves & Pascaud was the first company to show films to 
the public in Porto. It was also responsible for opening at least four cinemas, including the notable Cinema Batalha in 1947.

In 2021, Filmaporto created an annual programme to support film production, for projects produced in the city, and named it after these unique figures.

The Neves grant is aimed at artists and filmmakers living in the municipality of Porto, while the Pascaud grant is aimed at artists and filmmakers living outside the municipality.

The five annual grants, worth €20,000 each, will be awarded, through a competitive application process, to fiction and documentary films, series, experimental films and essays, and animation films, that must be produced by local production companies.
