Filmaporto — film commission today launched a new online directory of professionals, companies and locations in the film and moving image industry. Available on the Filmaporto website, the new platform aims to connect audiovisual productions with the city’s professionals and businesses, making it easier for national and international projects to access local resources.

Organised into three main sections — Professionals, Companies and Locations — the directory covers a range of activities within the audiovisual sector. Professionals listed include directors, producers, directors of photography, camera operators, sound technicians, editors, make-up artists, costume designers and visual effects technicians, among other specialists. The companies section includes production companies, post-production companies, equipment hire, studios, location services, distribution, film schools and festivals. The locations section lists spaces and properties in the city that can accommodate filming.

“This directory is the result of sustained work to identify and contact professionals, companies and organisations making films in the city — work that has, until now, taken place behind the scenes. By organising information about this network and making it accessible, we now have a practical tool for promoting Porto’s film sector and connecting those who regularly work here with those looking to film in the city,” says Lídia Queirós, Interim Artistic Director of the Cinema and Moving Image Department at Ágora — Cultura e Desporto do Porto.

Through this database, a production company coming to Porto will be able to identify and contact local professionals and companies suited to the needs of a particular production, as well as find filming locations. The directory thus aims to promote the work of the professionals and companies listed to productions that choose to develop their projects in the city.

Registration in the directory is free. Professionals’ profiles can include contact details, a portfolio and details of up to three previous productions, as well as the roles they have held and the types of production they work on.

Part of Ágora — Cultura e Desporto do Porto, E.M., Filmaporto — film commission is a municipal body dedicated to developing cinema and the audiovisual sector in the city. Its work includes facilitating filming in Porto by helping production companies with matters such as permits, locations and logistics, as well as promoting and attracting productions, providing financial support for the creation of audiovisual work and developing film initiatives.

Filmaporto’s support initiatives include Grants, which aim to encourage audiovisual production, as well as Filmaporto Screenings at Batalha Centro de Cinema, which showcase and promote films and filmmakers associated with the city and its film sector.

“Since 2025, we have been working to make the Filmaporto website a central platform and practical resource for anyone looking to produce films and audiovisual content in the city and the region. We already provide information on filming and production in the city; now we are also sharing information on who to work with and where, in a simple, intuitive way,” adds Mário Gomes, coordinator of Filmaporto — film commission.

With the new directory, Filmaporto strengthens one of its core functions: connecting productions coming to the city with the professionals, companies and spaces that make up Porto’s audiovisual ecosystem.
