Filmaporto opens applications for grants supporting film production in Porto.
Applications are now open for the Filmaporto Grants, a programme to support film and audiovisual creation and production in the city of Porto. The initiative aims to support five projects with an individual amount of 20,000 euros, divided into two categories: the Neves Grant, aimed at filmmakers or artists living in the municipality of Porto in partnership with production companies based in Porto, Vila Nova de Gaia or Matosinhos (this grant will support three projects); and the Pascaud Grant, aimed at creators living outside Porto, in collaboration with production companies in those same municipalities (supporting two projects).
The funding covers works of fiction, documentary, animation, series for television, web or other audiovisual media, as well as experimental cinema and video essays, provided they are filmed entirely in the municipality of Porto. Each project must have a team in which at least 60 per cent of the artistic and technical members are residents of Porto, Gaia or Matosinhos.
The jury is composed of three members with recognised expertise in the field of cinema and audiovisual production: Cláudia Varejão (filmmaker), Ana Carina Estróia (producer) and Lois Patiño (filmmaker).
Applications must be sent by 6pm on 8 August to info@filmaporto.pt. The full rules and evaluation criteria are available on the Filmaporto website.
